Local Positive Energy District operationalization solutions cannot be generalized and replicated with common methods: new ways of looking at the similarities and differences between focus districts as well as countries need to be developed. Transdisciplinary research design needs to be strengthened here: Existing methods of participation and stakeholder involvement need to be compiled to best-practices and exchanged, and new methods developed tailored to the challenges specific to brown field developments.
